China Telecom Creates CDMA Management Structure

The China Telecom Group has set up an individual customer department, a mobile construction department, a wireless network optimization center and a handset operations firm for its CDMA business. Provincial branches will make the necessary adjustments by the end of the year.

The individual customer department will focus mainly on information services - currently without a specific brand - for individuals once a CDMA license is issued. It will operate in parallel with the existing home and government user / corporate client departments. The handset business will be based around staff acquired from China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) handset procurement and sales subsidiary, Unicom Huasheng.
