Chinese online gaming operator Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) has recently purchased 1,200 servers from firms including IBM and HP, with each machine costing around RMB 15,000, for a total investment of almost RMB 20 mln. To date Shanda has invested RMB 400 mln in a network of 20,000 servers and 80GB of backbone bandwidth.
