Giant Q1 Profit Up 36%

Online game developer and operator Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2008, with net revenues reaching RMB 471.6 mln (USD 67.3 mln), up 48.7% year-on-year and 8.5% quarter-on-quarter.
Net income for the quarter came to RMB 338.7 mln (USD 48.3 mln), up 36.5% YoY and 1.5% QoQ.
During the quarter, active paying accounts (APA) for online games reached 1,447,000, up 46.7% from the first quarter 2007 and 3.0% from the fourth quarter 2007.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) for online games was RMB 325.1, an increase of 1.7% YoY and 5.3% QoQ. Average concurrent users (ACU) for online games was 546,000, an increase of 21.4% from Q1 2007 and an increase of 6.8% from the Q4 2007.
Peak concurrent users (PCU) for online games1 was 1,646,000, up 88.4% from the first quarter 2007 and up 67.4% from the fourth quarter 2007.
The company estimates Q2 2008 revenues will range between RMB 495 mln and RMB 505 mln.
