Shenzhen Airlines to Allow In-Flight Mobile Use

Xinhuanet, 4/21/08

Shenzhen Airlines CEO Li Kun revealed recently that the airline is planning to test allowing in-flight, high-altitude mobile use within the year, initially installing communications equipment on three flights to Beijing and Shanghai to go into operation before this summer's Olympic Games. Pricing for in-flight mobile use has yet to be announced. The airline is currently coordinating with the Civil Airlines Administration of China (CAAC), the Ministry for Information Industry (MII), and China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) on related matters.

Shenzhen Airlines plans to offer mobile phone use in all of its flights by 2009.
