AOL to Return to China

Sina Tech, 4/17/08

An informed source has revealed that Times Warner's Internet subsidiary AOL has been working on a return to the mainland market, under the aol.cn domain name. According to the source AOL China will be made up of three departments - Labs to research next-generation Internet technology, produce new technology and incubate projects; Mobile to create websites and applications for use on mobile phones; and Online Publishing, which will develop a range of systems to gather, edit, integrate and publish content - with cn.engadget.com (a web magazine covering new gadgets and consumer electronic) and cn.autoblog.com (a web magazine covering new automobiles and related products) to be the first to use the system.

Over the last two months content editors at a number of websites have received headhunting calls from recruiters working on behalf of AOL.
