Hop-on to Sell 3G Handsets in China

Tencent Tech, 4/04/08

Mobile phone developer Hop-on has announced that it has signed distribution contracts to sell its HOP 2001 3G phone in China. The HOP 2001 runs on Windows Mobile 6 and supports dual-mode GSM and CDMA. It also comes with wireless internet access, GPS, Bluetooth and gaming functionality. A spokesman for Hop-on stated that to increase its competitiveness, the HOP 2001 would be priced lower than phones with similar functionality, and a limited edition phone would be priced at USD 100 less than similar offerings from competitors.

Editor's Note: The HOP 2001 uses CDMA2000 EV-DO for 3G, but currently China has run only limited network trials using CDMA2000 EV-DO.
