CMMB to Charge RMB 1 Royalty through 2012

Speaking at the China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) 2008 Conference, Wang Xiaojie, head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)'s Science and Technology Department has stated that no royalty fees will be collected from enterprises using the CMMB standard during 2009, with a symbolic RMB 1 to be charged between 2010 and 2012.
Wang also indicated that the CMMB Working Group has established a patent pool - all participating firms will contribute related patents and share them at no cost.
