IGRS Box to Hit Market in Q1 2008

Speaking to reporters, VP of the IGRS IT Technology Center Sun Chuhui said that TCL Corporation (000100.SZ) has produced the first IGRS box, which will be on the market in Q1 2008. Also, Lenovo (0992.HK) and Konka (200016.SZ, 000016.SZ) are also soon to launch IGRS products.

According to Yan Xiaolin, head of TCL's Industrial Research Institute, the box's most unique feature is a non-hardware dependent software intermediary platform that makes it compatible with any PC or TV - meaning it can connect any computer with any TV.

According to Yan the box will retail at about RMB 2,000, a price which will drop gradually as supply increases.
