ASB Wins E-Government Backbone Network Contract

Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB) has announced it is the exclusive winner of China's largest high-speed E-government backbone network contract. The State Council Informatization Office-led project will cover all of China's provinces and involve cooperation with both China Netcom (NYSE: CN; 0906.HK) and China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK).

Alcatel-Lucent's optical transmission solutions will be used to realize video-conferencing, unified messaging and other NGN services, bolstering information exchange between governments at all levels.
