China Mobile Details Three Mobile Internet Strategies
Tencent Tech, 11/28/07
President of the China Mobile Group (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Wang Jianzhou has revealed mobile Internet development strategies for networks, terminals and applications.
On networks, China Mobile is already in the process of upgrading its GSM network to support EDGE. Future directions may include an entirely IP-based flat mobile network architecture; an intelligent heterogeneous network access system; a P2P-based distributed communications and information processing architecture; and a manageable, controllable, operable service environment.
For handsets, China Mobile is to implement terminal-coordinated telecommunications; use dynamic routing and switching with multiple connections; and research mobile phone operating systems from the point of view of the user.
With applications, China Mobile has launched a browser-based application run-time environment (BAE) to unify mobile browser APIs, provide quick Internet access, offline browsing and search.
