China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has released its October 2007 telecom industry statistics. The figures for the month were as follows:
Telecom revenues totaled RMB 66.7 bln (USD 8.9 bln), for a year-to-date cumulative total of 606 bln (USD 80.8 bln), up 10.9% over the first ten months of 2006. Capital expenditure for the month came to RMB 15.5 bln (USD 2.1 bln), bringing the year-to-date total to RMB 168.4 bln (USD 22.5 bln), a 6.2% year-on-year increase.
Mobile subscribers grew by 8.1 mln to nearly 531 mln.
PHS subscriber growth was negative for the fifth consecutive month, with a net loss of 682,000 subs, dropping the total to 88.1 mln. Traditional (i.e. non-PHS) fixed-line growth was negative for the second consecutive month losing 292,000 subs, bringing the total to 282.6 mln.
Broadband added 1.4 mln new registered users to reach 64 mln, while dial-up Internet access lost 456,000 registered users, dropping to 20.3 mln.
