Alipay Wallet Adds In-app Kuaidi Dache Taxi Booking

Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay has quietly added taxi booking functionality, developed by Hangzhou-based mobile taxi booking app Kuaidi Dache, to the Alipay Wallet ("Zhifubao Qianbao") mobile app. The new feature is located in the "Search" channel of v8.0 of the Alipay Wallet app. Users can call for taxis and pay for rides from within the Alipay Wallet app without the need to download any additional apps.

Alipay and Kuaidi Dache operator Kuaizhi Technology have previously partnered on taxi fare payment, embedding an Alipay payment option within the Kuaidi Dache app, as well as allowing Alipay Wallet users to scan driver-generated QR codes to complete payments for rides.

Alipay and Kuaizhi Technology announced a partnership on January 22 to invest RMB 500 mln to reward passengers and drivers with cash bonuses for using Alipay to pay for Kuaidi Dache trips. According to Alipay, between January 25 and 28, over 100,000 Kuadi Dache fares were paid through the Alipay Wallet app.
