Kingsoft Inks Partnerships with Tencent, Xiaomi

Chinese software developer and online entertainment provider Kingsoft (3888.HK) has announced that its Beijing Kingsoft Office Software subsidiary signed a strategic partnership agreement with internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) on December 27 pursuant to which Kingsoft will award Tencent long-term usage rights to version 9.6 of Kingsoft's WPS Office 2013 enterprise office software.
Once authorized, every computer in Tencent's China region offices will be able to use the software for enterprise office services. Kingsoft will provide Tencent with three years of after-sales service, including software training. Tencent will pay Kingsoft RMB 2 mln for the software and services, to be completed in 3 cash installments. Additionally, Kingsoft Internet Security Software (KIS), a Kingsoft subsidiary, has partnered with Tencent to provide promotional services for Tencent products through KIS's mobile and PC platforms.
Kingsoft has also signed an agreement with Beijing-based Android device maker Xiaomi to provide cloud services to Xiaomi. Kingsoft will provide promotional services through its products and websites for Xiaomi product sales, and the two companies will jointly operate Kingsoft-developed game products. Kingsoft will purchase hardware products from Xiaomi, including but not limited to Xiaomi mobile handsets, set-top boxes (STBs), TVs, routers, and related accessories. Xiaomi will provide promotional services through its products and websites for Kingsoft products. The Kingsoft-Xiaomi partnership will continue until December 31, 2015.
