Sina, Netease Youdao Partner on Microblog Translation

Chinese internet company Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging platform and internet company Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) Youdao online dictionary have reached an agreement in which Youdao will serve as Sina Weibo's official translation partner.

Youdao will provide free English, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Russian translation services to Sina Weibo users. The service is intended to allow users to view Chinese language translations of Sina Weibo posts by the growing number of foreign celebrities opening accounts on the platform. Non-Chinese speaking celebrities using Sina Weibo include Victoria Beckham, Michael Owen, Steve Nash, and a growing number of Korean and Japanese celebrities.

Upon implementation of the translation service, foreign language posts will include a "translate" button, allowing users to view a translated version of posts when hovering their cursers above the button.
