Amazon China Adds Kindle Store Channel
Sina Tech, 12/13/12
Amazon China quietly opened a "Kindle Store" channel on Amazon.cn this morning offering free Kindle reader software and Kindle-format e-books for download. The channel does not currently offer Kindle reader devices for sale.
The Kindle Store offers most of Amazon.cn's top-selling titles at discounts ranging from 20% to 70% off.
Free Android, iPhone, and iPad Kindle clients are available for download. Once a customer purchases a Kindle book, it will become available for reading on all of the devices on which they have installed Kindle software. Amazon.cn currently offers tens of thousands of Kindle titles for purchase.
A note at the bottom of the Kindle Store page indicates that online e-book publishing firm ChineseAll.com, with "New Publishing Internet License #045 (Beijing)" is providing operational support for the Kindle Store. The note implies that Amazon has partnered with ChineseAll.com to resolve operational licensing issues.
