Suning.com Launches E-Book Channel

Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning's (002024.SZ) e-commerce platform Suning.com officially launched its e-books channel on November 14. To date, Suning.com has partnered with nearly 1,000 publishing houses and online literature websites, and the channel launched with nearly 50,000 titles, with its offerings expected to grow to between 250,000-300,000 titles by the end of 2013.
Regarding price, Suning.com and publishers have agreed to set e-book prices at 30% of standard paper version prices.
Suning.com has developed Android, iOS, PC, and web-based clients in order to meet different users' download requirements. The Android client has already been released, while the other clients will be released in succession, allowing users to purchase Suning.com e-books on their PCs, handsets, and tablets.
Suning.com plans to launch a comprehensive media platform for video and other audiovisual content. Suning.com also plans to eventually open its e-book platform, allowing ordinary users to directly upload user-generated content.
