China Unicom to Release iPhone 5 within 3 Months

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Deputy General Manager Li Gang revealed in an interview yesterday that China Unicom will release the iPhone 5 in China within three months as long as things continue smoothly. According to Li, China Unicom and Apple have already reached a definitive agreement over the launch of the new iPhone and the two companies are now awaiting approval from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and State Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC).

A spokesperson from China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) said in a recent interview that China Telecom will also launch the iPhone 5 in China shortly after China Unicom.
