China Securities Journal, 9/12/12
Future Television, the internet TV subsidiary of CCTV's national online TV station CNTV, announced a strategic partnership with Chinese television and consumer electronics manufacturer Konka (200016.SZ, 000016.SZ) on September 11 through which Future Television's HD film and television, sporting event, and educational resources, as well as content offered through partnerships with internet companies like Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU), and PPLive (PPTV) will be offered to owners of Konka's X8100-series "dual-channel cloud sync" televisions.
Konka's X8100 uses dual-channel cloud synchronization technology to allow viewers to watch two different programs on a single screen. The television sold more than 15,000 units in its first month on the market, according to Konka Group VP Liu Fengxi, driving sales across all of Konka's product lines and leading to a total of Konka 550,000 televisions sold in August.
Future Television and Konka will also cooperate in a number of areas including product R&D, marketing and promotions, and technology R&D.
