China Unicom to Test Wo-Cloud v2.0 in May
CWW, 4/11/12
Director of cloud computing at China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Research Institute Zhang Yunyong recently announced that on May 27 China Unicom will commence large-scale beta testing and promotion of its new cloud computing product "Wo-Cloud." Wo-Cloud is a cloud computing service independently developed by China Unicom for individual, corporate, and government use. At present Wo-Cloud has successfully achieved information and file synchronization across multiple devices (ie. cloud synchronization) and the centralization of file and data storage as well as data security (i.e. cloud backup). Wo-Cloud version 1.0 officially went online on January 31 of this year, with the launch of Wo-Cloud version 2.0 coming shortly. While version 1.0 features the backup and synchronization of one user account on different terminals, version 2.0 will allow sharing across different user accounts. Zhang added, "This feature is very suitable for small and medium enterprises; different users can use Wo-Cloud for workplace communications and everyday tasks."
