CCID Net, 2/02/12
Amazon China announced today that it had opened its Tianjin operations center - Amazon's 11th operations center in China - to provide customers throughout Tianjin municipality with same-day delivery services. The company said it would increase its investment in warehouses and logistics this year, greatly increasing overall operations center space around the country.
The first phase of the Tianjin operations center will cover more than 90,000 square meters, for a total - when combined with Amazon China's two major operations centers in Beijing - of more than 170,000 square meters of warehouse space in North China. The company has a total of nearly 500,000 square meters of warehouse space around the country, giving it Amazon's largest operations network outside the United States, and the largest operations network of any Chinese e-commerce company.
Amazon China currently offers 5 mln products in 28 categories, with cash-on-delivery service available for 1,500 cities, mobile phone-based POS payment in 50 cities, next-day delivery in 53 cities, and same-day delivery in 17 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
