Rumor: Shanda, Kaixin001 Establish Social Game JV

Chinese online media and game operator Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA) and Chinese SNS Kaixin001 senior management have reportedly agreed in secret talks to establish a 50/50 social gaming joint venture.

According to an industry source, social games are only the first step in the two companies' plans for cooperation. Kaixin001's SNS platform offers Shanda its white collar, real name system-based user base, while Shanda can provide online literature, music, and video content for Kaixin001's platform.
