Beijing Software Exchange, UTC to Hold Patent Auctions

The Beijing Software and Information Services Exchange yesterday signed a strategic partnership agreement with Hong Kong-based intellectual property advisory agency HongKong UTC Holding to hold four seasonal intellectual property and patent auctions annually. The first event will be a winter auction set to take place in Beijing on December 20-21 this year. More than 249 patents have been collected for the first auction, as well as 80 trademarks, from companies which include Chinese e-reader and handwriting input peripherals manufacturer Hanvon (002362.SZ), telecom equipment and terminal manufacturers Huawei, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) and consumer electronics manufacturer Skyworth Digital Holdings (0751.HK), as well as the Institute of Chinese Software Academy of Sciences and similar facilities at Tsinghua University and Nanjing University. Patents and other intellectual property to be auctioned off will be bid upon by firms from several different fields.
In addition to trade in software and information-related services, the Beijing Software and Information Services Exchange currently also exchanges in intellectual property services and shares for software and information service firms.
