China Unicom Adds 45 Mln 'Ubiquitous Connectivity' Subs in Q1 2025

Telecom operator China Unicom (0762.HK; 600050.SH) has announced its subscriber totals for Q1 2025, with its aggregate number of "Ubiquitous Connectivity" subscribers reaching nearly 1.182 bln, representing a net increase of roughly 44.76 mln since the end of 2024. China Unicom's "Ubiquitous Connectivity" category is comprised of the operator's combined total aggregate mobile billing subscribers, fixed-line telephone subscribers, fixed-line broadband subscribers, Internet-of-things terminal connections, and networking leased line subscribers.
Among China Unicom's total Q1 2025 Ubiquitous Connectivity subscribers, approximately 203.83 mln were 5G network subscribers. Note that starting from Q1 2025, China Unicom has replaced the number of 5G package subscribers with the number of 5G network subscribers for the purposes of periodical disclosures. 5G network subscribers are mobile subscribers who have used the 5G network in the given period.
China Unicom ended Q1 2025 with approximately 663.18 mln Internet-of-things terminal connections, up 38.40 mln from its 2024 year-end total of 624.78 mln.
In Q1 2025, China Unicom had 17,941 customers served by virtual 5G industry private network, up 1,882 from a total of 16,059 at the end of 2024.
