Baidu to Increase Japanese Staff
Sohu IT, 3/15/09
Chinese online search firm Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has announced plans to increase its focus on the Japanese market. Baidu Japan currently employees 40 project managers responsible for the development of localized Japanese products, and expects to increase that figure to 80 by the end of 2009, with the goal of developing additional online services oriented toward Japanese Internet users.
Baidu Japan will launch a number of online services in 2009, including a Japanese-language mobile search engine, bulletin boards similar to its Chinese-language "Baidu Post Bar", and a service similar to Baidu's question and answer platform "Baidu Knows".
