JD.com to Open Logistics Services to Third-party Merchants

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) has announced plans to open its JD Logistics services for use by merchants on its platform.
JD.com's vice president Wang Zhenhui indicated that JD Logistics would provide integrated warehousing services, JD.com express delivery services, and JD.com logistics analysis services. He also indicated that the next step for JD Logistics would be to use technological innovations to upgrade its smart logistics capabilities.
As of September 30 this year, JD Logistics possessed 7 smart logistics centers, 254 large-scale warehouses offering a total of 5.5 mln square meters of storage space, and 6,780 delivery and self pick-up points. The service covered 2,646 districts and counties throughout the country.
