DoNews, 5/09/14
Online automobile information portal operator Autohome (NYSE: ATHM) and Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery have jointly announced the launch of online sales of Chery's new "Ruihu 3" SUV on the Autohome site. According to Autohome CEO Qin Zhi, as part of the company's 2014 development strategy, Autohome will continue to experiment with online to offline (O2O) vehicle transactions, moving beyond the company's core strategy of online automobile listings.
Pre-sales for the Ruihu 3 will be available on the Autohome site from May 9 to June 15, during which time users must register an account on the Autohome platform and place a deposit of RMB 499 to reserve their vehicles. Upon receiving a confirmation code from Autohome, customers can go to their local Chery dealership at a pre-appointed time to purchase their vehicle, which comes with a free 1 year/20,000 km extended warranty. Users making automobile purchases on the Autohome platform can receive bonus gifts from Autohome, such as free gas cards, if they share their purchase receipts to various SNS sites.
