China Mobile Recruits TD-LTE Trial Customers

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) recently began recruiting users to take part in TD-LTE trials in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu. Registration has already begun in Shanghai, Tianjin, Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Chengdu, and will soon begin in the other participating cities.
According to the recruitment rules, China Mobile customers of one year or more who have maintained average monthly payments of RMB 50 or more for the last three months, use over 50MB of mobile data per month, and who do not show a history of missing payments can apply to participate in the trials through China Mobile's website. Qualifying users will be able to choose between a 4G-enabled data card, MiFi router, or customer-premises equipment (CPE) unit. After approval, the user must submit a deposit of RMB 500 in order to receive their chosen equipment as well as a USIM card. The trials will last for six months, after which users must return the equipment in order to reclaim their deposit.
