China Star Cumulative LCD Panel Shipments Exceed 10 Mln Units

Chinese TV set maker TCL Corporation's (000100.SZ) joint venture panel maker, Shenzhen-based China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), has announced that its cumulative shipments of LCD panels have exceeded 10 mln units since the completion of its LCD manufacturing facilities earlier this year. As of May 2012, China Star's cumulative LCD panel shipments had reached 1 mln units.
China Star began operations this year, and achieved profitability in September. In October, China Star shipped 1.88 mln units, accounting for 9.5% of global shipments and ranking fifth overall worldwide, and first in shipments of 32-inch panels. China Star also captured a 19% market share in China, becoming China's second-largest LCD panel supplier.
