Update: Rumor: Alipay Develops "Virtual Wallet" Mobile Payment App

Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay today began accepting user registrations for a new mobile "virtual wallet" product, with open beta testing scheduled to begin December 10. Alipay disclosed that all 600 beta registrations had been filled within 30 minutes, and the company will consider adding more rounds of open beta registration.
