17u.cn Q3 2012 Revenue Up 230% YoY

Chinese online travel website 17u.cn has announced that the company's third quarter total revenue increased 230% from the previous year. The company saw an additional 2 mln new site members during the quarter, an increase of more than 300% from the same period last year. The company's new regulations regarding prizes for user reviews spurred users to generate more than 3 mln reviews during the quarter.
According to 17u.cn CEO Wu Zhixiang, 17u.cn focused on increasing its line of self-serve travel services during the quarter, launching a number of new services. 17u.cn has also launched a new "Air & Rail Transport" (Kongtietong) ticketing service in partnership with China Eastern Airways. The "Air & Rail Transport" service targets customers in cities with high-speed railways, providing the option to purchase high speed rail tickets for Suzhou, Wu Yi, Chang Zhou, Ningbo and Shanghai in tandem with plane tickets purchased from China Eastern Airways. The price of simultaneously purchasing both train and plane tickets through this new service is cheaper than purchasing both tickets separately.
