Rumor: Gaopeng to Run "Micro Group Buy"

On November 13, an industry source claimed that Beijing Wangluo Tianxia Shenghuo Technology's (English name: GroupNet) group buy site Gaopeng is partnering with Tencent's (0700.HK) Weixin (Wechat) mobile messaging application for a Weixin group buy platform that could be released in late November or early December, to be called "Wei Tuangou" ("Micro Group Buy"). The platform, which will be exclusively operated by Gaopeng, could be introduced with a new version of Weixin. In the future, the source said, Gaopeng could make direct use of Weixin's data resources for targeted marketing.
