Xiu.com, eBay Form Partnership
Tencent Tech, 11/01/12
eBay and Chinese fashion B2C e-commerce site Xiu.com announced today that they will work together - but said that details of their partnership would be announced at a November 12 press event.
The two companies have reportedly formed a strategic partnership that will see requests made to http://www.xiu.com redirected to http://ebay.xiu.com. 20% of eBay's top-ranking merchants will be displayed on Xiu's open platform. The first group of offerings will be major fashion and luxury products. Once the partnership between eBay and Xiu.com is fully operational, the two platforms will share data in realtime.
A source close to Xiu.com said that the company was facing difficulties, with around 2,000 daily orders on average. Xiu.com PR director Xu Qin revealed recently that the company's per-order average is between RMB 600 and 700, placing it on the high end for the Chinese B2C industry.
eBay overhauled its China-region operations at the start of 2012, appointing Lin Yizhang as China CEO. In May 2012, Lin announced that eBay planned to increase its multibillion-dollar investment in China, including preparations for vertical sites, more active communication with Chinese merchants, support for data analysis, and improvements to the company's logistics solutions. eBay's efforts have also included the registration of a new company in Shenzhen.
