China Telecom Submits First Smart STB Tender

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has begun its 2012 IPTV set-top box (STB) tender, which will include orders for smart IPTV STBs for the first time.
The tender, which ends in June 2013, comprises 4.86 mln units, including 74,000 smart IPTV STBs, 1.25 mln HD IPTV STBs, and 3.54 mln SD IPTV STBs.
