Rumor: Baidu Tried to Acquire Sogou in Early 2012

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) reportedly met with senior management of Chinese Internet firm Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) Sogou search engine to discuss acquiring Sogou in early 2012. When reached for confirmation, Sogou CEO Wang Xiaochuan declined to comment, but sources within Baidu confirmed that an attempt was made, but did not succeed.
