Zhu Chuanjing, CEO of Sichuan based online game developer and operator Jiuzhong Interactive, recently revealed that the company has completed USD 20 mln in funding. The funds will mainly be invested in the company's follow-up product R&D.
Zhu joined Chinese online game developer and operator Kingsoft (3888.HK) in 2003, where he was responsible for Kingsoft's self-developed martial arts MMORPG series JX Online. In 2005, he joined Kingsoft Chengdu's Yading Game Studios, which launched Kingsoft's self-developed 3D MMORPG CQ Online (Chunqiu Q Zhuan). After leaving Kingsoft, Zhu founded Jiuzhong Interactive in 2009.
Zhu stated that the company currently has an R&D team of approximately 60 people. Jiuzhong Interactive's first self-developed 3D MMORPG, Jianghun, is set during the Three Kingdoms period. R&D is nearly complete, with internal testing finished and the game ready for open beta testing.
Zhu said "co-operation has already been reached on this product with several overseas game operators, and it will be exported to the Taiwanese, Japanese and Southeast Asian markets. The game could launch as early as H2 2011 in Taiwan or Japan, followed by its domestic Mainland China release.
