MIIT, NDRC Announce Cloud Computing Trial Cities

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued a Circular Regarding Cloud Computing Services Innovation Trials last week. The circular names five trial cities for conducting cloud computing service trials: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Wuxi.
The trials have four main components: first, to allow key domestic IT enterprises to determine government, SME and individual consumer needs as well as explore SaaS potential; second, through these companies improve cloud computing core technologies and industrialization; third, organize a national cloud computing industry alliance; and fourth, research and formulate standards for cloud computing technology, services, and security management.
