China Telecom, mInfo Partner on Mobile Search
mInfo Press Release, 5/19/09
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has selected Shanghai-based mobile search provider mInfo as a strategic partner to deliver its complete search services for its mobile subscribers nationwide. China Telecom's new complete search service will allow its nearly 80 mln wireless subscribers (roughly 33 mln CDMA subs and 43 mln PHS subs, as of the end of March 2009) in China to find instant answers to almost any question via an SMS query, SIM Card OTA application or menu option pre-loaded on new handsets. Searchable information can include almost any knowledge-related question, as well as business directory lookup, weather or breaking news item. The new search services will be available in key markets in Q2 2009 and will launch nationwide in the second half of 2009.
mInfo was also selected by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) in the summer of 2008 to provide its official mobile search platform for the 2008 Olympics. mInfo's search solution is able to understand user requests as full questions, rather than just facilitating basic traditional keyword search. mInfo has offered these solutions in China for over four years.
