Sina Tech, 10/19/08
At the 2008 Mobile Terminal Market and Business Innovation Forum, Chen Yuping, the administrative deputy director for the China Telecommunications Complaint Center (ChinaTCC), a division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), stated that a Telecommunications Law for China would be introduced sometime in 2009. He stated that the telecommunications market is currently governed by a series of regulations, but that work on creating a Telecommunications Law for China has progressed to its final stages. The new law will primarily outline the structure and responsibilities of the government bodies managing and supervising the telecommunications space, set out conditions for access to the telecommunications market, outline market access conditions for the convergence of telecom, Internet and cable TV networks, allocate telecommunications resources, and touch on questions of network interoperability, and network and information security.
