An informed source has revealed that that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has selected "Mobile Internet" as the temporary name for the independent new internet company that it will be spinning off from itself. Registration for the company and other related affairs will be completed within a month. The company will be responsible for operating China Mobile's instant messaging, real-name forums, wired and wireless advertising and the 139 mailbox service. The new company will be set up as a subsidiary of Aspire, and headed by current China Mobile Group Customer Service Department director Ye Bing. Within the first year of operations, the company is expected to grow to 500 employees.
The source reported that China Mobile will work actively in the near future to establish capital, arrange staff, and draw up product strategies for the new company.
Editor's note: When a Sohu IT reporter called China Mobile to confirm the above rumor, a China Mobile spokesperson denied it, saying that if this rumor were true, China Mobile would have issued an official press release.
