In Henan Province's capital city of Zhengzhou, the Zhengzhou Municipal Management Department will soon impose measures to control the number of shared bicycles in the city, requiring bike-sharing companies to maintain current numbers and suspend any increase in bicycle deployment. There are currently 390,000 bicycles in circulation in Zhengzhou, of which Mobike is responsible for the largest share at 200,000, followed by Ofo at 130,000, and Coolqi Bike at 60,000.
On June 23 and July 26, the Urban Management Bureau and Transportation Committee of Zhengzhou arranged talks with the above-mentioned mobile bike-sharing companies. As a result of these talks, the Zhengzhou Municipal Management Department required the bike-share operators to assume responsibility and take immediate steps to resolve bike management problems in key areas of the city, such as the Zhengzhou Railway Station. The companies were also required to suspend any new deployment of bicycles until the city issues relevant guidelines.
